Case Study
Port Moody and Coquitlam Public Libraries of British Columbia (BC)
Two Libraries. One Search.
Challenge:
Port Moody and Coquitlam Public Libraries of British Columbia (BC) wanted to expand access to collections, resources, and services between libraries and the entire library community, but lacked the technological resources. If a patron wanted to locate a particular item from either of these two libraries, each library's catalog had to be individually searched.
Solution:
Port Moody and Coquitlam Public Libraries, in conjunction with Auto-Graphics, designed a powerful new search service called "Two Libraries. One Search." Powered by Auto-Graphics' AGent™ technology, this federated search product provided a way for BC community members to simultaneously search all public libraries in British Columbia, plus thousands of subscription magazines, newspapers, encyclopedias, and more.
Results:
Patron service offerings have increased drastically, as patrons can now instantly see whether they can obtain a particular item locally or need to request it through interlibrary loan.
