AGent Resource Sharing supports efficient request generation, fulfillment, management and offers a number of unique features:
Consortial borrowing requests
For libraries that prefer circulation-based resource sharing models, AGent Resource Sharing also permits libraries to exchange requests using the NCIP standard. AGent Resource Sharing provides a single staff interface to all requests, eliminating the need to manage ILL transactions in one system and consortial borrowing transactions in a second system.
Mediated and unmediated patron-initiated ILL requests
Supports patron-initiated requests, offering patrons the flexibility to place and track requests either locally or from a remote location. The system automatically applies the library-determined preferred lender list, which enables patron-initiated requests to be automatically approved and sent directly to potential lenders, significantly freeing up staff time by eliminating the need for staff to review and approve requests.
Open ILL requests
Patrons may initiate resource sharing requests from within any integrated library system (ILS), including Auto-Graphics' ILS product, AGent VERSO™. AGent Resource Sharing supports SIP2, NCIP and LDAP to enable remote system patron authentication to a local ILS, patron file, or AGent's patron database.
Dynamic routing of requests to an unlimited number of lenders
AGent Resource Sharing is designed to support an unlimited number of preferred trading partners and their respective lending policies. The system validates format availability and shelf status before routing the request to the first lender. If a lender is unable to fill the request, the system checks the shelf status in real-time before sending the request to the next lender.
Request fulfillment via OCLC
Based on local preferences, the system can send requests to OCLC for fulfillment by OCLC member libraries. The system supports ISO ILL communication, as well as OCLC's direct-to-review and direct-to-profile options.
Multi-copy requests
Allows staff to initiate multi-copy requests through one simple step, allowing libraries to support services such as book clubs and study groups with minimal staff involvement.
Streamlines searches for requests by request number
Enables patrons or staff members to search for active or completed transactions using the unique request number.
Buy, borrow, or suggest functionality
Allows patrons and staff to buy, borrow or suggest a title directly from the library-branded AGent interface if it is not immediately available for loan. The purchase is fulfilled through partnerships with book dealers, including Baker & Taylor. A portion of the revenue is shared with either the consortium or individual library, creating a powerful revenue generating opportunity.
