Peer-to-peer resource sharing
AGent TRACEit provides member libraries with a rich depository of holdings of verified resource sharing sources beyond traditional interlibrary loan (ILL) boundaries. The AGent TRACEit solution was designed for libraries that are not currently a part of a traditional consortium but would still like to offer resource sharing to their constituents. The system provides the user with an efficient methodology to locate hard to find resource sharing material and invoke a standard ILL tracking system to communicate with the potential lender.
Unlike traditional systems that require both the lender and borrower to operate on one proprietary system, AGent TRACEit does not require that both parties be a part of a common system environment. As the system provides for “Generic Script” the potential lender can communicate using standard forms or other systems. Additionally, neither the lender nor the borrower needs to invest in costly standards based technology. Moreover, the user needs hard to find items but does not want to invest in global systems with the added burden of expensive membership fees.
