Case Study
Michigan Auto-Graphics Consortia (MAC)
The Michigan Auto-Graphics Consortium Group (MAC Group) consists of four member cooperatives and two other cooperatives that have member libraries participating through the AGent VERSO™ system. These cooperatives include Southwest Michigan, Capital Library, Woodlands, Northland, White Pine, and Mid-Michigan Library League.
Challenge:
The MAC Group was seeking an affordable, flexible, and maintenance-free ILS system that would automate its member libraries in order to fully participate in current and future statewide endeavors, while enabling them to retain local control.
Solution:
AGent VERSO provided the cooperatives with a complete and maintenance-free system to bring each of these libraries up to pace with statewide initiatives. AGent VERSO fully integrates with the statewide union catalog and resource sharing system. To date, there are over 45 libraries from the six cooperatives using AGent VERSO, including public, academic, and K-12 school districts, and special.
Results:
These AGent VERSO libraries now have local control of their respective library operations, with the power to individually tailor AGent VERSO to fit their specific needs. This is a distinct departure from typical consortia-wide ILS systems which often address technological issues but tend to limit individual library local policies, thus adversely impacting workflow.
