Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital is a 120-bed hospital in Illinois dedicated to the delivery of rehabilitative medicine. Founded in 1972 by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, the hospital is part of Marianjoy, Inc., a network of care that manages more than 400 beds within the greater Chicago area. Throughout the network, Marianjoy provides in-patient, comprehensive outpatient, and rehabilitation services.
Challenge:
Marianjoy wanted to migrate to a full-featured, maintenance-free, and affordable ILS system that was able to maintain security settings and protect patient confidentiality in a hospital environment.
Solution:
After conducting a thorough comparison of various ILS products on the market, Marianjoy selected AGent VERSO™ because it provided one of the most cost-effective, reliable, technologically sophisticated, and efficient library automation products on the market to suit both its needs and budget. The library has been an Auto-Graphics customer for several years and wanted to confirm that AGent VERSO would best suit its requirements before making a final decision. In June of 2001, Marianjoy migrated from Auto-Graphics' SLIMS library automation system to AGent VERSO Web-based ASP services with full IT support, including daily backups, hardware maintenance, software support, and regular system updates.
Results:
The library no longer struggles with security issues, as its valuable data is maintained behind a secure firewall to protect the privacy of its patients and staff, without the added expense of onsite servers and employing additional IT staff. Librarians at Marianjoy have found AGent VERSO to be very user-friendly with a variety of versatile features for improving workflow. Record changes are now reflected instantly on the library's website without any IT complications. Users can now conveniently access the library's catalog from their desktops as well as from any remote location.
